Kinley's First Easter
We decided to spend Easter out in La Vernia this year. It was tricky for John to be able to get off, but I didn't want him to miss out on Kinley's first Easter. He would have Easter Sunday off, but was going to have to work Saturday. So, Kinley and I took the Megabus out to San Antonio again. The bus was much less crowded this time, and we got to sit downstairs, so that was good. My mom was making matching Easter dresses for Kinley and Emily, and still had to finish sewing (no surprise there!).
We didn't really do much, just spent some time visiting. The dresses turned out really cute. We went to the early church service and stayed for breakfast. I figured this would give Kinley a chance to nap before lunch and egg hunting. Cory, Rachel and Emily were planning to come out for lunch and to hunt eggs.
We tried to get a good picture at church, but Kinley just wanted Gran!
We went back to the house after church and took a little nap. Cory, Rachel and Emily came out for a yummy roast lunch. Then we took some pictures in the back yard. While we were taking pictures, the Easter bunny came! So, we went out front to hunt eggs before all the chocolate melted!!
Kinley is not much of a fan of grass right now, and she wasn't wearing shoes, so she had no interest in getting down in the grass. If you look carefully, you can tell she is doing her best to hold her feet OUT of the grass!
We had a fun day, but had to leave pretty quick after hunting eggs. We all had to be back at school/work Monday morning, so we didn't want to get back too late. Our drive home got a little rough before Columbus, when traffic came to a standstill. It took almost 4 1/2 hours to get all the way home, so we're glad we left when we did. It still was a great time, though, and we're glad we went!

Kiddie Park
We thought it would be fun to take Kinley and Emily to do something while we were in town. Cory and Rachel have taken Emily to the Kiddie Park several times, so we thought we would try it out. I checked their website and it said kids as young as 12 months could ride. I figured nobody was going to ask for a birth certificate, or anything, so we could let Kinley ride. The nice thing is that you can get in for free, you just have to buy tickets for the ride. In addition, there are some rides that parents can ride with their kids, and parents ride for free.
Emily wanted to ride the boats first, but the line was pretty long. So, my mom stood in line for the boats while Kinley and Emily rode the carousel with Rachel and Uncle Scott.
She seemed to enjoy that, so we figured she would have fun the rest of the time. On the boats, she would look at us and smile every time they went around. I thought she looked like such a big girl sitting in the seat all by herself!
Next, they rode the "little horses." Emily and Kinley rode together in a carriage. Emily was sweet to take care of Kinley.
We had some face painting tickets, but the line was really long, and there was only 1 girl painting faces. In addition to that, some adults decided to get their faces painted with their kids, even though there were a lot of kids waiting in line. So, we went to the ride that was a little more "mature." Cory rode it with Emily and Scott rode with Kinley. It went pretty fast, and the rocket ship cars went up and down.
Then, we went over to the cars. There were almost no kids at this ride, so the girls rode it a few times in a row. Emily chose a new car each time, but Kinley just stayed in the same car. It was even small enough that she could reach the steering wheel. She started saying "weeee weeeee" every time they went around.
Next, we went to the airplanes, where Kinley mostly chewed on her seatbelt. We started wondering if this is how she got sick. :-(
Next, Emily wanted to ride the ferris wheel, but Kinley was really too small. So, I took Kinley to the carousel while Emily rode the ferris wheel.
Last, the girls rode the "little horses" one more time. They were so cute to watch!
We had a lot of fun, and the weather was nice. We had some pretty tired girls on our hands, so we decided it was time to head out. Cory and Rachel took Kinley with them so my mom and I could go run a couple of errands.
Since my mom watches Emily on Fridays, we decided to just bring Emily back with us, so my mom wouldn't have to make the trip in the morning. With both car seats in the back seat, there wasn't room for poor Uncle Scott, so he had to sit in the back!
This was a fun day and I'm glad we got a chance to spend time with more family! I'm sure this won't be our last visit to the Kiddie Park!
