6 Months of Kinley
Kinley is just continuing to grow so much faster than we want her to!! She is such a complete joy to have around. Almost anywhere we go, we get comments on what a happy baby she is, or get asked if she's always "this good." I know that we have it good right now, so I just try to be really thankful that she's so easy for us, because I know that there probably come a day that she doesn't seem quite so easy to manage. Everyone always says how fast the time with their kids flies by, and I honestly cannot believe it has already been half a year since Kinley was born. I can still easily remember all the excitement and nervous anticipation leading up to her birth. It just doesn't seem possible that it has already been that long.
Along with the disbelief, though, comes the joy that she brings us every day. She is always learning and doing new things, and we are just delighted to spend our time with her. Her own little personality is starting to emerge a little more every day, and it's just fun to watch.
Here are some highlights of what she's doing now:
**She still fits into some of her 0-3 month clothes, but for the most part we are moving to 3-6 month clothes. We had to move to 3-6 month sleepers first, because her little feet were squished and the length wasn't long enough anymore in the 0-3 month ones.
**She is still wearing size 1 diapers, but we're moving to size 2 as soon as all our 1's are used up. I usually put her in a size 2 at night, because she is less likely to wake up with wet pajamas.
**She still takes 5 bottles a day - usually 6 ounces, but sometimes a little more in the morning and at her last feeding.
**She has 2 meals of "solids" every day. We found out she likes oatmeal, so she has oatmeal and a fruit mid-morning and oatmeal and a veggie in the evening.
**So far she has liked every food we have tried - pears, apples, bananas, sweet potatoes, carrots and squash. We have only tried stage 1 foods so far, but may venture into stage 2 soon.
**She still sleeps through the night. We usually put her down between 9:00 and 9:30 and I wake her up before I leave around 6:45 or 7:00. On weekends, she will usually sleep until about 8:00.
**She is an "easy" sleeper! We put her down with her pacifier, blankie and turn on her sleep sheep and she goes to sleep. Sometimes she will start squealing to herself and we go in and readjust her, but we definitely have it easy in the sleep department!
**She loves her doggies. Anytime they come into her sight, she just watches their every move. She often squeals at Jasper . . . if only he shared her excitement!
**She is sitting on her own now. She was really wobbly at first, but it hasn't taken her long to steady herself out. She still topples over easily if she reaches for something too far away, but she is learning more and more how to balance herself out. Such a big girl!
**She loves to pick things up and bang them around . . . and of course put them in her mouth. I caught her with a dog toy in her mouth one day when we were sitting on the floor!
**She is very aware of everything around her, and she loves to "talk." We get lots of conversation from her every day.
**More than anything right now, she LOVES her daddy! As soon as she hears John, she stops and gives him a huge grin. She loves to play with and talk to daddy. It's so cute to watch the 2 of them together. It makes my heart happy!
We have had you in our lives for 6 months now, Kinley Grace, and we couldn't be happier! We love you so much, and can't wait to see everything that life has in store for you.
In most of these pictures, Kinley was screaming/squealing at me. That's one of her favorite things to do these days!!
